Internet and Network Access

There are a number of ways students at UWA can get access to online systems and resources.

To use many of the ITS provided services, you will need to make sure your central student account has been upgraded to a full service central student account.

Connecting while at UWA

There are 3 main ways you can connect to the UWA network and internet while at UWA.
  • Laptops
Instructions for connecting laptops to wired and wireless networks on campus.
  • Libraries
Most library buildings at UWA have computers available for internet access, as well as wireless and wired access for laptops.
  • Laboratories
Your faculty, school or section may provided computer labs which give you access to the internet.

Connecting while not at UWA

Many UWA resourouces are available via any internet connection, however, for some it is necessary to restrict access to UWA students only. There are a number of ways that UWA students can access these systems when not at UWA.

  • Proxy
For access to restricted websites, you may be able to use the UWA Proxy.
  • SNAP VPN
Virtual Private Networking makes a different type of connection to the UWA network, and may be required for access to more complicated UWA systems.
  • Other ways
If you do not have a connection to the internet at all, you may need to rely on the older, slower UWA dial up system to get online. Also, there are other methods of gaining access provided by sections outside of ITS.
